Product Description

The Griffin - Rebuildable Atomizer with Clear Tank - (DID Clone)

NEW: Update to the Griffin, now comes with a clear tank!
Metal tanks are also available.

New! Finally an affordable rebuildable atomizer with a tank system holding up to 3-4ml
NOTE: This is NOT ready to vape, it is pre-assembled but the mesh and coil is not, nor is the SS Mesh oxidized! You can not vape this out of the box you'll need to oxidize the mesh and wrap the coil.

1.0mm Airhole

Not generally for beginners unless you want to get your feet wet with an easily rebuilable atomizer.  Even if you don't this is a great item to have to test liquids or get the best vape possible, easy to clean the parts or remove them entirely. This items come ready to vape so even if you have no plans to rebuild this is a nice addition to your vape collection.

Made with Stainless steel and plated Copper/Brass (not sure which yet, I will scrape one soon to find out). All parts are plated so there is no worry about copper or brass contacting your eLiquid.
Can be disassembled and put back together in minutes, very easy to clean, use and rebuild.

16mm Overall Diameter
53mm Overall Length assembled (without drip tip)

Comes with
1 Griffin
1 roll of coil (approximately one meter, may vary)
1 Sections of SS Wick (1.25"x2")
1 Nice stainless
drip tip (looks and feels like stainless, but it might not be)

1 small "Gift" tin (note if you have purchased the Griffin from me previously you will see the tin is much smaller now)
1 Allen Key

Please note, as this comes in a tin and it is not really packed all that well it will rattle around a bit. I do not want to deprive you of the tin it coes in as it can come in handy to store parts for your Griffin (coming soon) Also, due to the rebuildable nature of this item, there are no refunds unless there is a defective part ie, a screw is bad or something similar. Vape quality with the included starter mesh and coil is not warrantied as it is fully customizable.

Eric's Review:
I recommend a good cleaning with water of all parts as this bosy unit comes preassembled and of course first vape doesn't mean anything as this is intended for your rebuilding pleasure not a throw away vape, so if the vape is not to your liking out of the mod, modify it.  But me.. I like it as is :)
Very happy to have this on board.

Direct From Rolygate at ECF... a Warning:

Please note very carefully that rebuildable atomizer coils and wicks have known risks.

Rebuildables are for experts, not average or beginner vapers with no multimeter or knowledge of how to use a meter, or when a meter must be used, or how electronic devices work. These materials cannot safely be used by the inexperienced or those without basic knowledge of electronics.

 This is because:

1. A rebuildable coil/wick MUST be tested carefully with a meter before it is used.
2. If it is not tested it may damage the device it is used on.
3. Faulty wicks/coils WILL blow electronic devices.
4. New coil/wick units must be tested and then used first on a strong basic electrical APV such as a Silver Bullet, that will not be destroyed by a short circuit.
5. No new coil/wick assembly should be used on an electronic device until known to be safe.
6. These items destroy electronic devices if faulty. This is a known issue.
7. These items have inherent risks and may go faulty at any time even if they were originally in good working order. The owner bears the cost of equipment damaged as a result.
8. RAs or RTAs must only be used on equipment that cannot be seriously damaged or harm the user. In practice this could mean an electrical device with a hot spring (fuse) or an electronic device that will not activate if there is a short-circuit (a dead short). Unfused devices or unprotected electronic devices will suffer damage when used with a faulty RA or RTA.

EDIT: I like to use 28g on Mechanical Mods, for Provaris, or other VV APVs, please use something in a higher gauge, at least 30g+, 32 is best.I can't take credit for this one at all, Todd actually made a video showing the basics for this method and it has literally changed the way I vape. He's a stellar reviewer, check him out here:http://www.youtube.com/user/toddecigreviewsAnywho, I did some research - and from what I can tell a guy a guy named Petar. K came up with this trick, though he uses an unoxidized wick and doesn't rearrange the coils. In any case, I've done my due diligence to not take credit for somebody else's work. Believe me though, this is the most consistent method I have tried. Works every single time and allows the wick to breath while maintaining constant contact with the coil. Brilliant! If you have any questions, feel free to comment and I will do my best to answer them or make some follow-up videos Lots more genesis stuff to come! Thanks for watching and subscribing, and as always. 1. waste of money

Posted by william melgar on 30th Aug 2013

I had the worst leaking issues with this rba. cheap o-rings were used in the tank section and the center post causing my problem. I'm going to try and buy new o-rings and see if this fixes the issue. If you have to fix a product when its brand new then it's not a good product. Will never buy from this website again.

Eric's Edit: Normally I do not add to reviews but in this case I had to.. saying you will "never buy from this website again" without contacting us first and letting us know about a problem we could fix for you is quite extreme.

You could have just contacted us about it.

  2. great for price

Posted by emortalvapor on 12th Aug 2013

This is an awesome reuildable iv had no leakage and very easy to work with ts like agas but bigger badder brother only reason not 5 stars because I belive its plated brass ad not entirely stainless other wise is looks great on my svd.

  3. Will never buy from here again.

Posted by Jimmy Smith on 24th Jul 2013

I received the griffin in the mail packaging was nice but the quality of the product was bad, it looked as if somebody took a chisel to the top cap and chipped off the edge where it threads also i cant even use it bc the 510 threads will not screw onto my mod it is like the threads are to small.... The reason i say i will not buy from here again is bc i sent an email regarding this issue the day i received it and not a single response back.....

Eric's Edit: Jimmy, we respond to every email we get. Please try again, I do not see an email from anyone concerning the griffin that we have not responded to.

  4. Good buy for the money.

Posted by Rusty on 18th Jul 2013

I received mine today, two days after I placed the order. Talk about service!

When I opened the tin, I disassembled and washed everything. I found that the o-rings for the tank were really tight. It actually took a bit of effort to get everything back together.

After a few attempts, I got a decent coil and wick built I attempted to fill it. This is where I ran into problems. The fill hole is very tiny. I had to use a needle tip on my juice bottle to get any into the tank. After I got it about 1/4 filled the juice started running up the wick and made quite the mess.

I found that if I squeezed a good bit of air out of my juice bottle before inverting it to fill the tank, I could squeeze in juice until it started to flow up the wick. When this happened, I could just let a little pressure off of the bottle and it would suck everything back down.

I have been vaping on this all day and have not run into a single problem.

My only nit-picks about this is:
*Mine did not come with the hex key for the negative terminal and fill tube. Not a huge issue for me as I have several sets I could just steal one from.
*The air hole does not line up with the wick. Mine is about 90* off. I am going to try and sand the bottom of the top cap down until it lines up.

There you have it, a great little rebuildable for cheap. I am going to order one or two more.

  5. A Great Rebuildable Atty

Posted by Andy Diamond on 22nd Jun 2013

First I want to say that Discount Vapors sent out my order within hours and I got it in two days. Thanks guys!
It came with everything you will need to build two wicks and several coils, in a nice metal box. It didn't take long before I was blowing great clouds of vapor. It produced a very clean flavor too. I've had no issues with leaking, after several days of use. I did find I get much better flavor when I aligned the vent hole closest to the wick as possible. The only complaint is that the fill hole is very small and requires a syringe to fill it. Other than that it is a great little device at a great price.

  6. New and also leaking bad...

Posted by deanodambro on 22nd May 2013

I may be new to this rebuilding atomizer thing, but I think I did a pretty damn good job following the instruction video included on this page. I cleaned it out thoroughly, and then resealed it... And it has a slow leak at the bottom o-ring. Oh well..

  7. Very good, no leaks for me. You probably will need to fix the alignment

Posted by jesse on 16th Apr 2013

I did not have any leaking issues with this. When I got it, I took it apart, nicely cleaned it. Setting it back up it felt secure. It might be a QC or variance issue but make sure you don't have any particles getting in between the O-rings and the tank and maybe rotate it and align it so you can see a regular 'touch' of the rings throughout the circumference.

For the top part, it did not align for me either. You will have to use some sand paper to work on it until the hole aligns with the wick.

Wick hole is on the narrow side. I did not bore it larger yet, but someday I might. Right now it works ok.

It is a bick picky with the drip tips that I own and some of my SS ones will not get in. The one that comes with the unit is ok, again.

It is not too heavy, which I like, but probably wouldn't mind if it was all stainless steel :)

For the price, I think it is a very good value.

  8. had the same leak as others

Posted by anthony s on 4th Apr 2013

i had the same leaking problems as others have had . but i use what came with the atty and got it to stop leaking. i swapped 2 o rings around the one holding the top cap and bottom and leak free.

  9. Ceramic and SS wicks

    Posted by D on 4th Apr 2013

This is a fairly good product for the cost. The holes in the top are smaller than I thought though. 1/8 ceramic wicks will NOT fit this device (I read 1/8 fits the original DID) and 3/32 ceramic isn't worth using. I have been using this device on a Provari for a few hours now and it is working fine with no leaks. However, this device doesn't seem to work that much better than the bottom coil CE3's I have been using.

  10. Replace your Vivi Nova (or Vivi Tank)..

Posted by PoppaVic on 2nd Apr 2013

My Tiamat is awaiting a new Pos-Pin, and my Nova is *not* a Tiamat.

This Griffin was a *tight* assembly: I almost got out pliers. Washed all with Isopropyl, and reassembly was a cinch - once I learned the center-tube had to be merely *started*, tank added, and both ends slowly turned down.

Left spare screw out for filling, and addlscrew for ground, as well as pos.. Blew first coil or two - Vamo thinks they are 1.5-2ohm, and my MM says I am using between 4.5 and 3.4ohm right now.

I only wish the tube/base/cap were the same OD as the Nova: it would replace a Nova nicely. As is, this becomes my Tiamat-Backup.

  11. New and leaking Bad

Posted by Walter on 15th Mar 2013

Received mine yesterday was so excited only to find it leaked so bad from top and bottom that is lost a fluid in tank in less than 20 min. I took it apart cleaned it and inspected the o rings that seal the clear tube only to find they were not thick enough to seal the tank. went out to find o rings that would work so far no luck on that but I did use the Teflon tape the person wrote about below and it is working. looks like a Chinese blunder once again! Seems the last bunch that came out have too small of o rings I recommend not buying this until this is fixed unless you want to run all over town looking for a solution. Not so sure this one deserves two stars. On the good side after repairing leaks it works well.

  12. Griffin "do it yourself" needs TLC

Posted by koolhandkc on 6th Mar 2013

product came in nice tin, all parts acceptable. it appears that either the o-rings are junk, or the clear tank is too large ID. top o-ring doesn't touch the tank at all. bottom one leaks horribly. the o-rings are very thin and i believe need to be bigger in thickness. here's the fix, get a thicker o-ring from lowes or mcmaster carr...1.5mm-2mm thick, 10mm id 13-14 od. or use some "plumbers tape" on the existing ring. this item needs to be played with to work desirably. but if you are like myself and others...it is a worthwhile purchase with a little tweeking. happy vaping!

  13. Bargain RBA that works well

    Posted by Grinch99 on 3rd Mar 2013

Rinse the unit out in cold to room temperature water. Do not use hot water on the plastic tube it may deform. You can reform it with warm water and patience. Reassemble it but before drying put some cool water in the tank to check for leaks. If it leaks try flipping the tube around and test it again. That fixed my leaking issue.

This is a great RBA, if not a bit on the tiny side so it takes a little work to get it setup right.
Be sure to make the wick 1-2 mm shorter that the center positive post otherwise the cap could touch the wick and cause your coil's resistance to go crazy. Especially if you filed it to get the air hole to lineup with the wick.
I'd recommend this unit highly, especially at this cost.

  14. Use with SS mesh or Silica wick

    Posted by zsazsa45 on 22nd Feb 2013

I dont like the taste of ss mesh so i made a silica wick and POW, (much easier too). Good quality unit. Great taste and vapor. Not bad looking on my PV's. Holds enough to vape for a day for a moderate to heavy vaper. I like to use this unit for experimental wicks cause its ez to re-wick. Price is great for an rba tank, and spare tubes for a buck is unheard of. A great bargain!

  15. works great

Posted by jollygreen on 25th Dec 2012

once you get the hang of it and set up right it produces great vapor and tatse for the money right on. service as always was great thanks eric

  16. Love these

Posted by CraigHB on 24th Dec 2012

Best performance of any atomizer I've used. Nicely made especially for the price. I have a few of them, a couple from here a couple from other sources.

I drill out the air hole to 1/16 inch (1.6mm). Be sure to line it up with the wick. Have to do that or it worn't make good vapor. The cap can be filed so it the hole lines up when tightened.

I run without the filler plug for maximum wicking speed. The juice will run out through the wick if I turn it upside down, but it's fine. I just don't turn it upside down. Otherwise, they don't leak unless there's a bad seal or a crack in the tank.

  17. Excellent first RBA

    Posted by kh3ll on 22nd Dec 2012

As with all RBA you have to fiddle with the wick to get it right but once it's there it works great. I'm not experiencing any leaking and the air hole lines up great. It's not to airy of a draw, which I like. My only complaint is I can't get a different drip tip to fit snuggly, no big deal though. Excellent product.

  18. Works nice if you make the air hole larger.

Posted by Baktash on 4th Dec 2012

The air hole is very small. I made it larger simply by rotating a nail into it for a few minutes and it works very nice.

  19. Leaker

Posted by Unknown on 9th Nov 2012

Good service from these guys but... it's a leaker.

  20. Same mini-clone but improved

Posted by Doug on 28th Oct 2012

I had one already but had to try the see-thru tank. Also you get an air hole that is easy to line up with the wick.
Taste is good if slightly metallic. Throat hit can be vicious. Vapor is good though not very heavy. There is only room for a very skinny wick, no chance of filling the tank thru the wick hole.
If this is your first RBA stick with it and when you wind your coil turn the device and load and space the coils as go.
Once you have some practice upgrade to kanthal wire - I was surprised tofind that I couldn't 'set' the coil using my chef's torch, the supplied nichrome (?) wire just burns up!
